How To Install A Stream Deck Profile

Every pack downloads as a zip holding one profile file per deck size, all the icons as PNGs, and a short setup note. Here is what to do with them.

Before You Start

The Stream Deck application, version 7.1 or later. If it refuses the file, this is nearly always why.

The zip from the download link we emailed you (or from your account, if you have made one), extracted somewhere you can find again. The desktop is fine.

About two minutes. There is no installer and nothing to configure.

The Steps

1

Extract The Zip Properly

Right-click the zip and choose Extract All. Windows will let you browse inside a zip without extracting it, and everything will look correct, but a profile cannot be imported from in there. Extract it first and the rest of this takes a minute.

2

Pick The File That Matches Your Deck

A 15-key Stream Deck takes the 15-key file, a Stream Deck XL takes the 32-key, and where a Neo layout is included it is labelled. Both Stream Deck layouts are in every download at no extra cost - and the Neo layout too, in the packs that include one - so if you are unsure, install one and try the other later. Choosing wrong is not harmful — it just arranges the icons for hardware you do not own.

3

Double-Click It

The Stream Deck application opens and imports the profile. It arrives as a new profile alongside everything you already had. Nothing you built is overwritten, moved, or deleted.

4

Switch To It

Use the profile dropdown at the top of the Stream Deck window. Your original profile is still in that list, and going back is the same two clicks — worth knowing before you start rearranging anything.

5

Optional — Make It Automatic

The Stream Deck app can tie a profile to an application, so it appears when the game launches and steps aside when you close it. Five minutes of setup, and worth it the moment you play more than one thing.

6

Optional — Use The Icons On A Layout You Already Built

If you have spent months arranging your own deck, do not import the profile at all. Open the PNG folder in the download and drag individual icons onto the keys you already use. Every icon is a transparent PNG at 288 × 288, named after the function it represents, so you keep your layout and still get the artwork.

If It Does Not Work

Double-clicking does nothing, or Windows asks what to open it with

The Stream Deck software is either not installed or older than 7.1. Install or update it and try again. If Windows still will not associate the file, open the Stream Deck app first and import from the profile dropdown instead of double-clicking.

The file arrived as a .zip instead of a .streamDeckProfile

Some browsers rename files they do not recognise. Rename it so it ends in .streamDeckProfile and double-click again.

I imported it and my old profile has gone

It has not. Importing adds to the profile list rather than replacing it, and the list lives in the dropdown at the top of the Stream Deck window. If it looks short, check you are on the right device tab — each deck keeps its own profiles.

The icons look soft on the keys

Check you extracted the zip rather than dragging files out of a preview window, since some tools downscale on the way out. The originals are 288 × 288 and will look sharp on any current deck.
